UNICEF Snowflake Ball in L.A., 2005

At the very first UNICEF Snowflake Ball in Los Angeles, Robert presented the Danny Kaye Humanitarian Award to his friend Trudie Styler. The event took place at the Regent Beverly Wilshire Hotel on November 30. This award is bestowed upon an exceptional individual who has used her celebrity as a force for the survival, protection of women and children worldwide. Trudie Styler has, among many other things, raised close to $2 million to protect millions of children from exploitation.

During Robert's speech he revealed a big black eye when removing his sunglasses and joked that Sting was responsible: "I found out that as well as being one of the most philanthropic rock stars, he also has a heck of a left jab." Robert's publicist, Alan Nierob, later explained that the black eye was from a Kung-Fu workout.
