| Robert and fiancee, Susan Levin, were among the guests at the 27th Annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington on December 4-5, where honorees received awards for "Lifetime contributions to American culture through the Performing Arts". Robert and Susan attended a White House reception, hosted by President Bush and first lady Laura Bush, and the celebrations concluded with the Honors Gala at the Kennedy Center's Opera House. Robert was one of the presenters and did the onstage introduction of one of the award recipients - Sir Elton John. He also honored Elton by performing Elton's song "Levon". Other award recipients: Opera singer Joan Sutherland, conductor John Williams, actors Warren Beatty, Ossie Davis and Ruby Dee. Sadly, half of Robert's speech was cut in the broadcast from CBS (as all speakers were) and his performance was not included. VIDEO AUDIO (with narration) |
